Finite Element Analysis
Predicting Movement with Precision
Our mission? To predict the response of the underground tunnel to a 15-storey mixed-use development. With Plaxis 2D as our tool, we built a 2D (plane strain) model to capture the tunnel's proximity to the development and predicted movement with an impressive 1 mm precision. Our phased model simulated existing ground conditions, gradual unloading of the ground during excavation, and the subsequent application of footing and ground slab loads.
Confidence in Design
Rock Anchor and Soldier Pile Retention for an 18.5m Deep Excavation. Harnessing the power of Plaxis 2D, we used this robust design to anticipate bending moments, shear forces, and ground response during basement excavation. Achieving accurate results requires time, parametric analysis, expertise, experience, and patience. By leveraging insights from this model, neighbouring property owners gained a renewed sense of confidence.
Building on Solid Ground
Confidence for Your Dream House. Nothing compares to the feeling of absolute confidence when constructing your home. That's why understanding the ground's response to previous mining activities was crucial for this project. Using Plaxis 2D, we explored the depths to ensure a solid foundation. With detailed modelling and analysis, we gained the confidence needed to build with peace of mind.
Optimising Pile Depth
Tailoring Design for Strength and Serviceability. When tasked with reducing pile depths, our design approach considered strength and serviceability requirements. By applying engineering principals, we successfully reduced the pile length by over 10 meters compared to the original design. This significant reduction resulted in substantial cost savings for our valued client.
